THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: BORICUA WEEK: JOSÉ UMPIERRE ON NOEL QUIÑONES, LATINOPIA BIOGRAPHY ON NOEL QUIÑONES, HENRY DARROW ON HIGH CHAPARRAL, RICARDO MATTA AND POLI MARICHAL ON THIEVES AND LIARS AND MARÍA JIMÉNEZ HENLEY ON WEST SIDE STORY.
Hola Latinopians! This wee we celebrate Puerto Rican filmmakers and actors. We start with José Umpierre’s review of Puerto Rican Noel Quiñones’ film work, including his latest film Uno a Uno (One on One). We accompany this with a biography of Noel chronicling his many films. Also this week we report an interview with legendary actor Henry Darrow speaking about his role in the celebrated TV series High Chaparral. And also we visit with Ricardo Matta and Poli Marichal, the husband and wife team that wrote, directed and produced the independent feature Ladrones y Mentirosos (Thieves and Liars), film about Puerto Rico today. And last but not least we feature actor, dancer and assistant director María Jiménez Henley as she recalls her pivotal role in the motion picture West Side Story. All to say, on the island or the mainland, Boricuas presente!
Enjoy,
Tia Tenopia
