THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: RICARDO ROMO ON NEW MEXICO’S HISPANIC CULTURAL CENTER, ALBERTO RIOS ON HOW TO WRITE A POEM, ELENA MINOR ON WRITING POETRY, RUDY ANAYA ON POETRY AND FRANCISCO ALARCON ON POETRY.
This week Ricardo Romo’s Tejano Report looks at the holding of New Mexico’s Hispanic Cultural Center. Founded in 2000, the center grew out of the need to showcase indigenous New Mexico and Southwest art. Ricardo tours the center for us and showcases some of its exemplary art work.
Also this week we take a look at the writing of poetry. We begin with Alberto Rios speaking about how he writes poetry, what inspires him and how he goes about shaping his poems. We follow this posting with an interview with author Elena Minor as she explains her motivations in writing of her poetry. We also visit with the late acclaimed California poet Francisco Alarcon and his notes on the writing of poetry. Lastly, we visit with the late great Rudy Anaya as he reflects on the writing and power of poetry.
Enjoy your poetic infused week on Latinopia!
