We begin this week with Sal Baldenegro’s Political Salsa y Más. This week Sal looks at the destructive power of cults, and how no matter whether they are from the right or left, cults are evil. Check out his thoughtful analysis.
This week you may begin to see Hatch chile’s arriving at your local markets as the Hatch chile craze sweeps through the Southwest. What are Hatch chiles and what do you do with them? Check out our two videos. Chile Capital of the World visits the town of Hatch, New Mexico with one of the local residents as he explains what makes Hatch, New Mexico the chile capital of the world. We also repost La Pelada. And what is a pelada, you ask? Well take a look at the fun one community has yearly in roasting and peeling Hatch chiles. Don’t miss La Pelada!
Also this week, we visit with filmmaker Mylene Moreno as she talks about her film about how the Mexican American community fared during the Vietnam era. Her documentary On Two Fronts shows that many Chicanos were fighting on two fronts, on the battle field in Vietnam but also at home fighting the battle against discrimination and unfair treatment. This film is available for viewing now on PBS.
