This week we celebrate anew the annual Hatch chile harvest. The small town of Hatch, New Mexico has become the center of a widespread Chile growing phenomenon. Check out our three videos. The first one “Hatch:Chile Capital of the World” explains why the soil around Hatch New Mexico is so conducive to growing chiles. In “La Pelada” we visit a yearly tradition of peeling roasted Hatch chiles and storing them in the freezer for the year ahead. And our last video reviews green chile recipes you can make from your Hatch chiles.
Also this week, El Profe Quezada returns. This week he reminds us of the barrio tradition of curanderismo, based on his own experiences. Herbal and other medicinal approaches to ailments has a long tradition in the barrio and El Profe gives us his first hand experience with it.
