THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: CARLOS AVILA FROM FOTONOVELAS TO GRIMM, JOSÉ MURRATI ON “VALOR,” AND BURUNDANGA BORICUA ON WILDA RODRÍGUEZ AND THE ELUSIVE “PROMESA.”
Hola Latinopians! This week we visit with episodic director Carlos Avila as he talks about how his early film projects, such as the PBS series Fotonovelas, which he created and developed, led to his career as an episodic television director. Our regular blogger José Muratti, who delivers a monthly Latinopia blog, Utopias Descifradas (Undiciphered Utopias), reads from an original poem, “Valor” (Courage). And José Umpierre returns wit his monthly blog Burundanga Boricua, this week he looks at a new book by Puertorican author Wilda Rodriguez which has a lot to say about the current situation in Puerto Rico.
