Gilbert “Magu” Lujan (October 16, 1940-July 24, 2011) was a much loved and influential Chicano sculptor, muralist and painter. The co-founder of the Los Four art collective, he was one of the first Chicanos to exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In 2014, Vanessa Acosta and Xavier Montes curated an homage exhibit to Magu titled “In Search of Magulandia” at the Santa Paula Museum of Art in Santa Paula, California.Thirty six artists produced art works remembering Magu and his artistic vision.
