Chicano artist and social activist Gilbet “Magu” Lujan (1940-2011) created a mythical world of spirit animals inhabiting an evocative landscape he called Magulandia. In the 2017 exhibit at the University of California at Irvine, Aztlán to Magulandia, the Journey of Chicano Artist Gilbert “Magu” Lujan, the world of Magulandia is in full display. Here, Naiche, Lujan, Magu’s son, explains the vision behind Magulandia. The exhibit runs through the end of 2017.
