LATINOPIA WORD JOSÉ MONTOYA “EL LOUIE”

José Montoya is a renowned poet, artist and political activist. Here he reads from his celebrated bilingual poem, “El Louie,” a reading that took place at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. The poem, considered by many as one of the finest of bilingual poems, celebrates the life of a pachuco (zootsuiter) who was also a Korean War veteran.

If you have not read Jose Montoya's Poetry, then you are starving yourself of the most exquisite Chicano Cuisine for the Chaveta ever cooked up, and served by the premier Chef Escritor in the History of Chicanoism. Pepe Serna c/s
