El Conjunto Hueyapan is a music group dedicated to the jarocho music tradition that originated in Veracruz, Mexico. Founded in 1973 by Fermín Herrera, A Professor of Nahuatl at California State University at Northridge, the group is composed of two generations of the Herrera family–all from Oxnard, California. Though born and raised in the United States the Herrera musicians demonstrated a virtuosity rivaling musicians from Mexico. Here, the perform a traditional son, “EL Siquisiri.”
