THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: LUIS R. TORRES ON THE CHICANO GENERATION, DON FELÍPE ON LEADERSHIP, ROSALIO MUÑOZ ON THE LEGACY OF AUGUST 29TH, AND ANGELA’S PHOTO OF THE WEEK.
Greetings Latinopians! This week we honor Roslaio Muñoz as a Latinopia Hero. Older visitors to Latinopia will recall that Rosalio organized the August 29th, 1970 Chicano Moratorium march against the war in Vietnam. At a time when Latinos were dying in much higher proportions than their proportion in the general population, Chicanos organized a peaceful protest that was attacked by police and sheriffs. Since then Rosalio has continued in his efforts to educate and better the Latino community. Latinopia asked Rosalio what he thinks the legacy of the historic Moratorium march is.
Our blogger Luis Torres returns with his Tales of Torres blog, this week he remembers the Chicano generation and reviews a new book by Mario García about that generation of baby boomers. Don Felípe De Ortego returns with his Bravo Road blog, this week he examines the notion of Leadership as it pertains to Latinos.
And Angela Ortiz returns with her photo of the week, this week one of her classiest yet, “Carroll Street.”
Enjoy!
