Sal Baldenegro returns to Latinopia this week with his Political Salsa y Más blog. Sal’s been away for a short while but he’s back with his always insightful and unabashed commentaries on Latino/Chicano life and the events that inform it. This week, in the wake of more mass killings nationally in Tennessee and Kentucky, Sal asks the question, What is the Republican Death Quota? Why has no one bothered to ask this question before? Check it out!
And we got some exciting poetry this week on Latinopia. We start with acclaimed Tejano poet Ire’ne Lara Silva who was visiting in Los Angeles last week to participate in the Mujeres Divinas poetry reading at the Tia Chucha bookstore which also featured poets Luivette Resto and Angelina Saenz. We”l be posting poetry by all three of these divine muses in the weeks to come. This week we showcase Ire’ne reading her poem, what i rememebred yesterday. Also we feature poems by Puerto Rican poet, now residing in Los Angeles, Luivette Resto. She reads from her new collection of poems, and get this cool title, Living on Islands Not Found on Maps.
Also this week, Dr. Ricardo Romo returns with his Tejano Report. This week he highlights the fantastic art work of veteran San Antonio artist Joe Lopez. Great stuff!
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
