THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR! HOLIDAYS FOOD WITH DIANE VELARDE HERNANDEZ: LA TAMALADA AND CAPIROTADA. RICARDO ROMO REPORTS ON KATHY VARGAS EXHIBIT AND QUETZAL PERFORMS “TODO LO QUE TENGO.”
As the holidays near, we share our annual videos of how to make tamales and how to make capirotada, all Christmas favorites in Latino households. Our hostess is cocinera extraordinaria Diane Velarde Hernández. Check out these scrumptious videos!
Also this week, Ricardo Romo reports on a recent visit to Artspace where San Antonio based photographer Kathy Vargas has an illuminating exhibit. She examines with her photos the untold story of how clothing sales propel consumerism and endanger the livelihood of Americans. In Ricardo’s words, “It is also a social justice statement about the ever-present American pursuit of fashion products that sustain the culture of consumerism and give rise to sweatshops around the world.” Check out the amazing photos.
Lastly, we Martha Gonzalez performs an homage song to her husband, Quetzal. The group Quetzal performs “Todo lo que Tengo,” (All that I have).
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
